Biggest field to cycle Lakes passes
THE BIGGEST field to date starts for the Fred Whitton
Challenge Cycle Ride with 1,000 competitors involved on Sunday.
The 112-mile circular route starts and finishes in Coniston, and this cyclo-sportive is the most popular event of its kind in the country - entries were sold out in less than 12 hours.
For the first time this year an ex Tour de France rider Adrian Timmis is taking part along with other professional riders. Riders start between 6am and 9am.
Motorists should be warned that cyclists large numbers of cyclists will be on the road from 7am to 7pm tackling the main Lakeland passes.
