English style

ARE you looking for a glamorous outfit for a special Christmas night out? Are you over 40, tired of the cheaper high street labels, looking for something more tailored and unique to you, without making you over-the-top or out-dated? Do you want to try somewhere local rather than joining the crowds in the city?

Well one of my most unexpected favourite finds this month was in Anne Wilson's Bowness store on Royal Square.

Farlow, the quintessentially English clothing collection that's now arrived here in the Lakes, has been the country outfitters-of-choice for those with discerning taste, for nearly 200 years.

From rods and tackle in their first shop in 1840, to shooting apparel and luxury clothing at today's Pall Mall, London, residence, Farlow really does showcase the best in English country living with really up-to-date, contemporary performance clothing that's now turning heads.

Even Madonna has been rumoured to have added pieces to her English wardrobe.

Now, us lucky Lakes dwellers need not travel very far to find a cool selection of the latest in the Farlow female, winter range.

When I saw the Farlows outfit in the Bowness shop window I had to turn back and go in. The store really does house an eclectic choice of designer, well-tailored wardrobe must-haves, and I can thoroughly recommend that those of you who are looking for a fabulous, individual outfit should go in and have a look for yourself.
