Back to school respect
ASSISTANT Chief Constable Graham Sunderland has called on Cumbria's next generation to lead by example and display the principles of Respect as they return to school after the Christmas break.
Following on from the success of the Respect campaign on the Friday before Christmas, which saw bar and pub staff throughout the county donning Respect branded T-shirts and displaying Respect posters, Mr Sunderland has asked the county's youngsters to demonstrate the type of behaviour encouraged by the Respect message.
Mr Sunderland said: "The involvement of young people in the Constabulary's Respect campaign remains a vital aspect to gaining the type of society we all want to live in.
"With young people returning to schools across the county this week, I would ask them to remember the key elements of Respect by displaying considerate behaviour for each other, personal responsibility and good manners.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools for the encouragement they gave us by taking part in the Respect calendar and anti-bullying poster competitions last year and would ask for their continued support with spreading the message of Respect throughout 2008."
