Hats off to Cartmel Races

Cartmel Racecourse is unique - from the general layout of the course, which allows people to get close to the action, to its position in an area of outstanding natural beauty with the Lakeland fells and parklands all around.

A beautiful place to go - not only for those racing enthusiasts, but also for their partners and friends.

And the next meeting - on Saturday, May 24, Monday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 28 - promises to be lots of fun for us girls as the Saturday is Ladies Night.

It's a great treat to have the opportunity to dress up for an evening out. So, forget the jeans and wellies, it's time to get out your posh frock and pearls.

While horses are, of course, the main attraction, there will be plenty of other diversions to tempt you.

Along with champagne watering holes and refreshment areas, there are the trade stands which will include: l Handbags and accessories by Stevie Ayres, of Brampton.

l Make up and perfume from The Powder Room, at Bowness.

l Hats for all occasions by The Hat Shop, Kendal.

l Skin care from The Bodyshop.

There will also be a fashion show, starting at 3pm, showing off the latest summer collections from local retailers Pure, Joanna's Closet, and Gina Cooke.

Gates open at noon, with racing starting at 5.50pm.

The cost of badges is very competitive, as prices start from just £5 (and discount is available if you book in advance).
