Heff-in hell for Lancaster

LANCASTER City footballer Guy Heffernan wrecked the hopes of Lancaster Cricket Club's seconds as he starred for Barrow's second string on Saturday.

The defender turned to attack with figures of 4-34 as Lancaster were bowled out for 124 at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground and then hit an unbeaten 34 as Barrow just about scraped home for the loss of seven wickets.

Carnforth seconds were second best against Kendal after the Cumbrians plundered a massive 275-6 from their 50 overs.

That was never a likely target and Carnforth pulled down the shutters and finished on 181-8 in their reply.

But there was joy for Morecambe seconds as they beat Preston by five wickets with two overs to spare after bowling the visitors out for 163.
